Terms of Service

WordApp · PrayApp · DisciplineApp — Last updated: 13 October 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of WordApp, PrayApp, and DisciplineApp (together, the "Apps"), developed and operated by an independent developer ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using any of the Apps, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Apps.

1. What the Apps Do

WordApp, PrayApp, and DisciplineApp are companion apps for personal spiritual practice — daily devotional reading and reflection, prayer journaling, and tracking of spiritual disciplines. WordApp also offers Circles, for reading and studying the Bible with a small group in person or remotely. They are tools to support your own faith practice, not a substitute for church, pastoral counsel, or professional advice of any kind.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

4. Your Content

Reflections, prayers, and discipline notes you enter into the Apps ("Your Content") remain yours. By using the Apps, you grant us a limited licence to store, process, and display Your Content back to you as part of providing the service. We do not read, review, sell, or use Your Content for any purpose other than operating the Apps and, where you explicitly trigger it, the "Export Reflection" feature, which copies a day's entry to your phone's clipboard.

We do not claim ownership of Your Content, and we do not use it to train any AI model.

Circles. Some content is not private. If you join or lead a Circle (a small group within the Apps), the answers, notes, prayer requests and other content you post inside that Circle are visible to the other members and leaders of that Circle — this is how the feature is designed to work. A prayer request marked "Only the leaders can see this" is visible only to you and the Circle's leaders. Do not post anything in a Circle you would not want other members of that group to see. You can delete any prayer request, answer or note you posted. Leaving a Circle with the plain Leave does not delete what you already posted there; it stays visible to the Circle's members unless you choose "Leave and remove my posts". Our Privacy Policy explains every way to have a post deleted. Circle leaders can remove a member from their Circle, and any member can block or report another; reports are reviewed by our safeguarding reviewers. Leaders cannot see your private reflections, notes, journal or anything else you write outside that Circle.

5. Companion and Getting Help

Companion is a guide to Scripture and to what is in WordApp: it points you to verses, pages and features from what you type. It is not crisis support, and it is not medical, legal, financial or pastoral advice. It does not replace a doctor, a counsellor, a pastor, or your church.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 (or your local emergency number) now.

If what you type into Companion suggests you may be in crisis, it shows a screen with helplines for where your phone is set: in the UK, 999 for emergencies, Samaritans (call 116 123), Shout (text SHOUT to 85258) and Childline (call 0800 1111, if you're under 19), and, where what you wrote mentions abuse, the National Domestic Abuse Helpline (call 0808 2000 247) and the NSPCC (call 0808 800 5000); in Ireland, 999 or 112, Samaritans Ireland (call 116 123), Pieta (call 1800 247 247), Text About It (text TALK to 50808) and Childline (call 1800 66 66 66), and, where abuse is mentioned, Women's Aid (call 1800 341 900); everywhere else, a reminder to call your local emergency number and a link to findahelpline.com, which lists free helplines in your country. These services are run by those organisations, not by us, and we can't guarantee their availability. No one at WordApp reads what you type into Companion.

6. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions

7. No Advertising, No Data Resale

The Apps do not display third-party advertising and we do not sell or rent Your Content or personal data to advertisers or data brokers. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail on what is collected and why.

8. Intellectual Property and Bible Text

The Apps, their name, design, branding, illustrations and underlying code, and the original devotionals, study plans, study notes and other writing we create for them, are owned by us and protected by copyright. We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the Apps and read that material for your own spiritual practice.

You are welcome to share a short extract with friends, family or your church, with credit to WordApp. You may not copy, republish or reuse our writing, illustrations, design or branding in another app, website, product or service without our written permission.

We do not claim ownership of Scripture text, which remains the property of its rights holders.

Scripture text in WordApp's Bible reader is supplied through API.Bible:

Quotations within devotionals, study notes and other pages are from the King James Version. Word-study information (the Hebrew and Greek behind a word) comes from bolls.life and STEP Bible. STEP Bible's lexicon data is by Tyndale House, Cambridge, and licensed under CC BY 4.0.

9. Children's Use

The Apps are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us using the details below and we will delete the account promptly.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Apps are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the Apps will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at all times. Devotional content, word-study data, and any other in-app material are provided for personal edification and are not a substitute for direct engagement with Scripture or pastoral guidance.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Apps — including loss of data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Apps is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the twelve months before the claim arose.

12. Changes to the Apps or These Terms

We may update, modify, or discontinue any feature of the Apps at any time. We may also update these Terms from time to time; material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Apps after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Apps if you violate these Terms. You may stop using the Apps and delete your account at any time.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, unless applicable local consumer-protection law in your jurisdiction requires otherwise.
